Naan is one of the most popular Indian bread that can be paired with any veg or non-veg curry. Typically, naan is prepared using yeast, but as the name suggests, this Yeast-free Naan recipe is made without yeast and tastes amazing.
1 1/2 tablespoon yoghurt (curd)
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 pinch baking soda
1 tablespoon milk
water as required
salt as required
1 1/2 tablespoon refined oil
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup wheat flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon onion seeds
1 tablespoon butter
To make this side dish recipe, take a bowl and mix together milk, yoghurt, sugar and water. Now, take a large bowl and sieve all purpose flour, wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in it. Then, pour the milk-yogurt mixture to it and crumble using your fingers. Add enough water and knead into a soft and smooth dough.
Now, cover the dough with wet muslin cloth and let is rest for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, add oil in it and knead the dough again. Cover the dough again with the same muslin cloth and keep it aside for another 15 minutes, until it rises and doubles in size.
Next, divide the dough into equal balls and roll them out into small circles to make a naan. Sprinkle some sesame seeds and onion seeds on top. (Optional: You can also use dry flour, if required.)
Now, heat a non-stick pan over medium flame and put the prepared naan on it. Cook both the sides till light brown spots start to appear on them. Once the naan is cooked properly, transfer it to a serving plate. Brush the top with a little butter and serve hot with any curry of your choice. Enjoy!
