Yam Curry is a delicious curry recipe that is loved by foodies all over the world. Yams are a great source of potassium and adding them in a curry makes for a mouth-watering delight. Made using yams, onions, ginger-garlic paste, coriander leaves, yoghurt and a melange of spices, this main dish recipe can be enjoyed for lunch as well as for dinner. You can serve this Continental recipe with rice or chapati to make it into a wholesome delectable meal.

Ingredients:
500 gm yam
salt as required
50 gm chopped green chilli
25 gm garam masala powder
25 gm garlic
25 gm red chilli powder
25 gm coriander powder
20 gm cumin seeds
100 gm crushed to paste onion
50 gm butter
50 gm yoghurt (curd)
25 gm ginger paste
25 gm chilli flakes
25 gm powdered turmeric
1 handful chopped coriander leaves

Procedure:
Step 1
To prepare this main dish recipe, first take yams and peel off the outer skin. On a chopping board, cut it into small cubes and wash these thoroughly.

Step 2
Place a frying pan oven medium flame and add butter it. When it melts, add yam cubes in it. Fry these until they are golden-brown. Once done, take these off the flame and transfer onto a plate. Now, place the pan over medium flame and add onion paste, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste in it. Roast this until it changes color. Sprinkle asafoetida, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, chilli flakes, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix it well to coat the ingredients. Now, stir the paste and cook it for 10 minutes on slow flame.

Step 3
Pour yoghurt and mix it well. Allow it to cook for 5 minutes. Lastly, add fried pieces of yam in the pan along with 1/2 cup water and allow it to cook for 10 minutes. Once the gravy thickens, add garam masala powder and mix it well. Take it off the flame and transfer it in a bowl. Garnish it with green chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with rice or chapati to enjoy!
