WhatsApp brings voicemail and Call Back features to Android, iOS

In July, reports pointed out how developers seemed to be burning the midnight oil with a string of feature updates for WhatsApp including voicemail and Call Back. It was available for Android in the beta mode. Both these features are now officially available on Android and iOS.

For the new features, Android users will have to update to version 2.16.229 and iOS users to 2.16.8. Users can then leave a voice message in case the recipient doesn’t answer the call. For instance, they will find three options – Cancel, Call Back and asking to leave a Voice Message.

To send the voice message, users will have to hold and press the voice message button. Once you are done speaking, and release the finger from the button, the message will be sent. However, there is no way that you can listen to your message before sending it.

In case, you don’t want to send the recorded message, simply tap on cancel. Those who have used voice message in WhatsApp, will find it quite similar. These voicemails will be found as a part of your conversation with the particular person. With this new feature, the popular messaging app is trying to stiffen the competition for services like Viber, Telegram and so on.

WhatsApp is also working to add a new font to its iOS and Android app called FixedSys. It will mean a different font for chatting. Besides, a quote message feature will allow users to quote specific messages or media and also reply to them.
