The 2017 VW Polo, as per the official confirmation from Volkswagen, is scheduled to enter production and debut this month. Just weeks or possibly days ahead of the 2017 VW Polo’s debut, Volkswagen has released a teaser of the car’s silhouette.

Spy shots have already unveiled the all-new model unofficially. Featuring an evolutionary design, the VW Polo has grown in dimensions to offer more interior space.

Recent reports say that with the redesign, the European supermini now measures 4,053 mm (+81 mm) in length, 1,751 mm (+69 mm) in width and 1,446 mm (-97 mm) in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,564 mm (+2,470 mm). The longer wheelbase and increased width will help make more room for the rear-seat passengers. The interior should get a bump in quality and equipment, as well as the latest in tech from the Volkswagen Group, including the 12.3-inch Active Info Display (fully-digital instrument cluster).

The sixth generation VW Polo is the second model from the Volkswagen Group to utilise the MQB A0 platform after the fifth generation Seat Ibiza. It is expected to get the Volkswagen Group’s latest turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, including (95 PS/115 PS) 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder petrol, the (150 PS) 1.5-litre TSI Evo four-cylinder petrol and (80 PS/95 PS) 1.6-litre TDI four-cylinder diesel. Additionally, to keep the entry price lower, Volkswagen could offer the 75 PS 1.0-litre MPI naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine too. Next year, the range could expand with arrival of the GTI variant sporting a circa-200 PS 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

The 2017 VW Polo’s production will first start at the Volkswagen Navarra factory in Spain. The company’s South African plant could be up next, having already received the investment for the MQB tooling.
