Nokia made a comeback this year with new budget Android devices and a reincarnation of the popular feature phone, the Nokia 3310. While we have heard that the new handset will launch around the end of Q2 this year, HMD Global might have something in store for the Indian market.
The company has sent out media invites for a special event scheduled for 8 May in New Delhi, where it is expected to share details as to when the new phones, including the Nokia 3, 5, 6 and the 3310, will hit the Indian market.
We have seen a lot of buzz surrounding the smartphones, especially the feature phone, primarily because a number of European retailers listed the device as going on sale from 28 April onwards. However, HMD Global has stated that all such retail listings are false. They have not revealed any plans to ship the device.
There was listing in India that appeared on retailer OnlyMobile’s website and it lists the device as “Coming Soon” at a price of Rs 3,899. Colour options include Warm Red, Dark Blue, Yellow and Grey.
A Nokia spokesperson we spoke to said that all such listings are unofficial and that HMD hasn’t released a timeline for the same.
