Telangana Rasam


Telangana Rasam is a South-Indian recipe which is prepared with tomatoes, water, fresh herbs and lots of spices. This easy vegetarian dish is simple to make. This delicacy can be served with steamed rice or tomato rice during lunches. Enjoy the tangy yet spicy taste of curry during summers as it’s light, refreshing and hydrating.

8 large tomato
8 teaspoon vegetable oil
8 stalks curry leaves
4 pinches turmeric
4 tablespoon tamarind paste
salt as required
4 teaspoon black pepper
8 cloves garlic
10 red chilli
12 cup water

For Tempering:
8 teaspoon cumin seeds
4 teaspoon mustard seeds

For Garnishing:
4 stalks coriander leaves

Step 1
Firstly, place tomatoes, garlic and coriander leaves over a chopping board and chop them. Keep them in separate bowls. Now, place a vessel over medium flame and pour water in it. Then add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, tamarind paste, black pepper and salt.

Step 2
Bring the mixture to a boil and cook the mixture for 20-25 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked.

Step 3
Next, place a saucepan over medium flame and pour oil in it. Once the oil is heated, add mustard and cumin seeds. When the seeds starts to splutter add curry leaves, red chillies and garlic. Stir the mixture for 4 minutes.

Step 4
Now, add seeds mixture to the vessel and mix the mixture. Garnish the mixture with chopped coriander leaves. Serve!
