Tata Motors has announced the official name of the production version of the H5X Concept. The SUV has been christened Tata Harrier. Along with this disclosure, the company has released three teasers as well.
The design of the Tata Harrier will follow the Impact Design 2.0 language. 80-85% of the Tata H5X Concept’s exterior will transition over to its production form. Tata claims that the Harrier will come with a ‘best-in-class’ infotainment system.
Tata has released three images teasing the front, rear, and side profile of the Harrier. The first image highlights the characteristic humanity line along the lower edge of the grille and LED pilot lamps. The primary headlamps could occupy space lower down in the bumper, from the looks of it.
The image teasing the rear reveals a sharp crease running across the boot above the split LED tail lamps. Strong creases can be seen in the side view of the Tata Harrier as well. A rising beltline and a gently sloping roof give it an SUV-coupe profile. Other noticeable exterior design features include ORVMs with integrated turn signals, chrome applique for the upper edges of the windows, integrated roof spoiler, dual tone look, and a rear wiper.
The Tata Harrier is built on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced or OMEGA architecture, which is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. It will borrow the 2.0 L Multijet II diesel engine from FCA as reported earlier.
Series production of the Harrier will commence before the end of 2018. The company has confirmed that the market launch of the Tata Harrier will take place in the first quarter of 2019. As per a recent report, Tata will unveil the SUV in November this year.
Along with the name, Tata’s marketing team has activated a dedicated Instagram handle and an official website.
‘Harrier’ isn’t new to Tata. It has been used internally to refer to a platform in the past. Toyota also uses the name on an SUV sold in Asia.
