Sweet-and-Sour-Onions

An interesting blend of sweet and sour flavors, Sweet and Sour Onions is a great accompaniment with North Indian food. This side dish recipe gives your meal an interesting touch. Prepare this easy recipe at home and double the flavor of your meal!

Ingredients:
500 gm peeled baby onions
50 gm sugar
2 leaves bay leaf
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
50 ml vinegar
50 ml tomato puree
2 black cardamom
50 ml virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

Procedure:
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a pan. Put the onions in the oil. Keeping the flame low, saute the onions for 2 minutes.

Step 2
Now add vinegar, sugar, tomato puree, bay leaves, black cardamom, salt, pepper, raisins and 300ml water.

Step 3
Bring to a boil and simmer gently till the water evaporates. Ensure that all the onions are cooked and most of the water has evaporated.

Step 4
Remove the bay leaves and the black cardamom. Serve the sweet and sour onions with your favourite main dish.
