If you are bored with the regular aloo tikkis, then give it a break and try this delicious Pumpkin Tikki recipe, which is super-delicious and can be eaten as an appetizer. Pumpkin is a not-so-loved vegetable and it is one ingredient that can help you prepare any dish! Be it an appetizer, soup, salad or even a dessert, this is a nutrient-rich vegetable that can help in your health. This tikki recipe is prepared using gram flour or besan, white bread, feta cheese, pumpkin and a melange of spices.
500 gm grated,peeled pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
10 slices white bread
1/2 cup refined oil
3 teaspoon chilli flakes
4 tablespoon gram flour (besan)
1 1/2 teaspoon dry mango powder
1 teaspoon grated garlic
1 teaspoon grated,finely chopped ginger
salt as required
2 teaspoon grated cheese- feta
To prepare this delicious tikki recipe, put a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame and add little oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add grated ginger and garlic to the pan and saute for a few seconds until the raw smell of garlic goes away.
Then, add red chilli powder, roasted cumin powder, chilli flakes, grated feta cheese and dried mango powder to the pan and cook the spices. Next, add grated pumpkin to the pan and cook well for another few minutes.
Once the mixture appears to be cooked, turn off the flame and transfer to a bowl. Add salt as per your taste and mash it well. Then, take the bread slices, cut them into small pieces and mix them into the mashed mixture.
Using your hands, make small balls out of the mix and flatten them to form tikkis. Then, put a kadhai over medium-high flame and add oil in it for shallow frying the tikkis.
When the oil is hot enough, add flattened tikkis in the kadhai and shallow fry them till they turn golden brown in colour from both the sides. Once the desired colour is obtained, turn off the flame and serve Pumpkin Tikki with green chutney.
