Oats Chapati


Chapati is a classic Indian bread served with a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes for a hearty meal. Generally made with refined or whole wheat flour, chapatis are a must in every North Indian household for a satisfying meal. Oats Chapati is a wonderfully unique twist to this great accompaniment, which utilizes the goodness of oats to make this staple food item really healthy. This vegan recipe would help you make soft oats chapatis which are not only nutritious but quite tasty too. Prepared with basic ingredients such as oats, wheat flour, salt, ghee, and refined oil, these chapatis can be made easily in less than half an hour.

1/2 cup oats
salt as required
2 tablespoon ghee
1 cup wheat flour
water as required
2 tablespoon refined oil

Step 1
To make these hearty and healthy chapatis, grind the oats in a food processor till they turn into a coarse powdered flour.

Step 2
Now, take a large bowl and put wheat flour, ground oat flour, salt, and ghee in it. These are the ingredients required to prepare the dough for these chapatis.

Start kneading the dough by gradually adding water as required. Prepare a well kneaded and soft dough. Cover the bowl with a lid or wet cloth and keep aside for around 20 minutes.

Step 4
Once the dough is ready, divide the dough into small balls. It will make for almost 10 balls of equal size. Roll the balls with a rolling pin into medium-sized circles.

Step 5
After that, put a tawa or pan on medium flame and let it heat.

Step 6
Put a rolled dough circle on the tawa and cook the chapati from both sides. Apply a little oil for it to turn golden brown.

Step 7
Once all the dough discs are cooked, serve the oats chapatis hot with a yummy vegetable or meat dish.
