Millet Balls


Millet balls is a delicious snack recipe that you can prepare for your loved ones in kitty parties and game nights. This South Indian recipe is cooked using millet, black olives, carrot, onion, parsley and breadcrumbs. This snack recipe is perfect for those who always want to try something different. It is a perfect dish to serve as a snack on occasion like potluck and birthday party, and make everyone lick their fingers.

1 cup chopped black olives
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 1/2 cup grapeseed oil
1 red onion
salt as required
1 cup millet foxtail
1 cup grated carrot
water as required
1 1/2 tablespoon parsley
powdered black pepper as required

Step 1
To prepare this delicious snack recipe, put a deep-bottomed pan on high flame and bring water to a boil. After a boil, add millet to it and let it boil until the millet becomes tender. Turn off the flame and transfer to a large bowl. Keep this bowl aside for further use. Next, peel the red onion and carrot and wash them once under running water. Grate them both in separate bowls and keep aside.

Step 2
Once the millet cools down, add chopped olives, grated onion and carrot, parsley, black pepper powder and salt as per your taste. Mix all the ingredients well. Next, make a lemon sized balls out of the mixture and coat each of them with breadcrumbs.

Step 3
Now, put a kadhai or a skillet over high flame and heat grape seed oil in it. When the oil is heated, carefully add the prepared balls in it. Fry them until golden brown in colour. Repeat the procedure to make more such millet balls.

Step 4
Finally, transfer to a serving plate, garnish with parsley and serve hot.
