Microsoft expected to launch Xbox One X in India on January 23

The Xbox One X is Microsoft’s most powerful console ever made boasting of 6 teraflops of graphical prowess. The console was briefly listed on the Microsoft India website for Rs 44,990.

Microsoft has sent out invites for an event scheduled for January 23 where the company is expected to launch the Xbox One X. Microsoft briefly listed the Xbox One X on its India website for Rs 44,990. The listing with the price has since been removed.

Microsoft launched the Xbox One X towards the end of 2017 internationally for $499 (Rs 32,000 approximately directly converted). It’s nice to see that the Xbox One X is launching only months after its international release in India. The Xbox One S was launched in India a year after its international release.

The Xbox One X competes with the PS4 Pro, a console that boasts of 4.2 teraflops of graphical capabilities in comparison to the Xbox One X’s 6 teraflops. The PS4 Pro is available for about Rs 32,000 online in India and as of writing this story, the PS4 Pro was in stock. It is available in the grey market for a cheaper price. The Xbox One X is currently available in the grey market for about Rs 40,000.

There are more than 100 games that have been enhanced for the Xbox One X. But remember, each game has a download of about 60GB. Some even go to 75 and a whopping 100GB in a few cases. So, if you are planning to pick up the One X, then ensure you have a high-speed data connection with a large cap.

The only place where Microsoft falls short when compared to its Japanese rival is with exclusive games. Sony had a fantastic 2017 with exclusive games when compared to Microsoft. Microsoft has its play anywhere initiative, which means that when you buy an Xbox version of the game, you get the same for the PC at no extra cost. So, this means that if you have a PC and want to play Xbox games, you no longer need to invest in the console hardware. Sony’s exclusives however are limited exclusively to the PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Sony also saw a large number of games launch for its platform along with the PC including Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Nier Automata and Nioh to name a few.

If you currently have the original Xbox One X, or the One S and plan to upgrade to the One X, Microsoft has a process to make the transfer easy for you. To begin with, you can start downloading the 4K patch for the games that have it on your original Xbox One or the One S by going to the settings and enabling download for the 4K assets.
