Methi Palak Dhoklas are rich in nutrients like iron and folic acid and is a great breakfast option for expecting mothers. This dhokla recipe is extremely healthy and tasty and you can treat your guests with this interesting variation in get-togethers and kitty parties.
1 cup soaked,washed & dried black eyed beans
3/4 cup chopped fenugreek leaves ( methi)
1/2 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon baking soda
2 3/4 cup water
3/4 cup chopped spinach
4 tablespoon refined oil
1 crushed to paste green chilli
2 pinches salt
1 pinch asafoetida
Wash and soak the black eyed beans (chawli) for at least six hours. Drain them when soaked.
Add water to the soaked beans and blend in a mixer to make a smooth batter.
In the bean batter, add chopped spinach, fenugreek leaves, oil, green chili and ginger paste, asafoetida along with salt and mix well.
Put the steamer on the gas and when the water in the steamer starts to boil, add baking soda (you can also use fruit salt or eno) into the batter and mix well.
Grease 3 thalis with oil and pour this batter in them. Put these thalis in the steamer and steam for about 8 to 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, put the thalis off the steamer and cut dhokla pieces as desired. Serve hot with green chutney.
