MUMBAI: Vehicle design has become the top most factors behind the purchase decision of prospective buyers in the country a fact that is well understood at country’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra.
After delivering the XUV 500, KUV 100 and Sportscar Halo concept at 2014 Auto Expo, Mahindra & Mahindra will be showcasing its most expressive vehicle till date – in form of XUV Aero – an SUV Coupe concept at 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, designed by its Indian design team.
Recognising the importance of design, Pawan Goenka, executive director at Mahindra & Mahindra had earlier told ET, “We have seen one or two products fail because of that (design). The Indian customers like little bit of flamboyance, it would be little bit over the top. Some experts may say, M&M have gone overboard, I would say, yes M&M has gone overboard by design and not by accident.”
Understanding the importance of design, Mahindra Group infact recently acquired the Pininfarina the global design firm, which has played a part in design of Super cars like Ferrari.
The XUV Aero will be the show stopper amongst approximately 20 vehicles on display in the first of week by Mahindra & Mahindra, which will showcase the company’s prowess from trucks to two wheelers to electric vehicles and racing cars and bikes, right from Ssangyong to Genzee to Reva E2O.
Pravin Shah, president and chief executive at the automotive business at Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We will be putting forward our global face at the Auto Expo. We would be showcasing our global, futuristic vehicle with accessible technology. Our showcar will reflect our bold design and it will come with all the futuristic connected technology.”
The company infact is going to set up a design studio right at the venue to showcase, what went into the making of XUV Aero. The design studio at the Expo will reveal what went behind the development of Aero and different stages right from concept development, ideation and designing of XUV Aero.
Apart from XUV Aero, the company will also be showcasing the E2O Sports version with wireless charging, which will be supplemented by E Maxximo and E Verito and the company will also have customized TUV 300 to Tivoli from Ssangyong at the Expo.
