Lemon Poha

Lemon Poha is a scrumptious breakfast dish which is prepared with two main ingredients: pressed rice (poha) and lemon juice. This delightful dish is very filling and apt for occasions like picnics and road trips. You can also enjoy this dish with piping hot tea on a rainy day.

4 cup pressed rice
4 pieces green chillies
1 teaspoon asafoetida
1 teaspoon turmeric
4 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoon mustard seeds
salt as required
4 teaspoon urad dal
8 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon coriander leaves
4 red chilli
8 leaves curry leaves
4 tablespoon chana dal

Step 1
Take a chopping board and chop coriander leaves. In a strainer, add poha and rinse under running water to remove dust particles. Transfer pressed rice to a large bowl and mix in turmeric powder, asafoetida, lemon juice, curry leaves and salt. Add 3 cups of water and soak it for 30 mins.

Step 2
Meanwhile, in a deep shallow pan, heat oil. Add green chilies, mustard seeds, red chilies, chana dal and urad dal.

Step 3
Saute until seeds start to splutter. Add soaked poha to the pan and saute to coat with the tempering. Cover the pan and cook it for 4-5 minutes. Transfer to serving plates and garnish it with coriander leaves.
