LeEco, Coolpad Launch Cool1 Dual With Dual Rear Cameras, 4060mAh Battery


Just a week after LeEco’s CEO Jia Yueting took over as Coolpad’s Chairman, both the companies have now announced their first joint handset in the new Cool series. LeEco and Coolpad have together announced the Cool1 Dual smartphone for a price starting at CNY 1,099. The smartphone is now available for pre-order on the Coolpad website, LeMall and Jd.com, and will go on sale on August 24.

The LeEco Cool1 Dual smartphone is launched in three memory/ storage bundles. The 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,099 (roughly Rs. 11,100), the 4GB/ 32GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs. 15,100) and the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,699 (roughly Rs. 17,100)

The biggest highlight is the two 13-megapixel camera at the back with f/ 2.0 aperture, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF), 4K video recording, 720p slo-mo, and dual-tone LED flash. Talking about the specifications, the LeEco Cool1 Dual supports dual-SIM (Nano + Nano) and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based EUI 5.6. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS in-cell display with 450-nit brightness and 72 percent NTSC colour gamut. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor (quad-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A72 + quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A53) paired with Adreno 510 GPU.

Apart from the above mentioned rear dual camera setup, there is also an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree wide-angle lens. The Cool1 Dual packs a nice 4060mAh battery with fast charging support. The dimensions measure at 152×74.8×8.2mm, and weighs 167 grams. Connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 8802.1111 ac/a/b/g/n (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type C port. It is available in Gold, Silver and Rose Gold colour variants.

In June, LeEco became the largest shareholder in Chinese smartphone company Coolpad with a total of 28.9 percent shares in its name. With this gain, LeEco now looks to integrate its ecosystem model with Coolpad’s near-billion intelligent terminals to boost its sales in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The company expects cumulative sales to go up to 50 to 60 million in 2016, and garner more than 100 million smartphone sales next year.
