Huawei P30, P30 Pro Launch Set for March 26, Lossless Optical Zoom Teased

Huawei has now confirmed that the P30 and P30 Pro smartphones will be launched in Paris on March 26. The company had earlier teased a March-end launch, but has now confirmed the proper launch date. The Huawei P30 series will launch at an event in Paris, and the date announcement comes with a cryptic video that teased the phones’ camera capabilities. Based on the video, we can speculate that the Huawei P30 series will come with an upgraded lossless optical zoom system that will let you take good quality macro shots.

The Huawei Mobile handle on Twitter announced that the Huawei P30 series is set to launch on March 26 next month at an event in Paris. The tweet is accompanied with a teaser video that shows different monuments in Paris followed by a zoom shot of each. The monuments shown in the tweet include the Eiffel tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Notre-Dame de Paris. All the photos of these monuments are followed by a zoom shot hinting at lossless optical zoom capabilities. This teaser corroborates with past leaks that suggest that the Huawei P30 Pro will likely include a periscope-style rear imaging hardware to facilitate lossless optical zoom.

The Huawei P30 series is expected to consist of two phones – the Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro. Renders suggest that the phones will sport a dewdrop-shaped notch in the front. The Huawei P30 will sport a triple rear camera setup at the back, while the P30 Pro will sport a quad camera setup at the back. The sensors will be aligned vertically accompanied by a dual-LED flash module. The volume and power buttons are housed on the right edge, and the fingerprint sensor is embedded underneath the display.

According to various leaks and rumours, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro smartphones will sport OLED screens with a waterdrop-style notch and optical in-display fingerprint sensors. The phones will also reportedly be powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC. The Huawei P30 is said to be coming with a 6.1-inch OLED panel with 8GB of RAM, whereas the Huawei P30 Pro will feature a larger 6.5-inch display with 12GB of RAM. The Huawei P30 is said to have a maximum of 40-megapixel and support for 5x lossless zoom. At the front, it is expected to have a 24-megapixel selfie camera.
