Healthy Lasaniya Batata


Healthy Lasaniya Batata is a mouth-watering Gujarati recipe that is loved by people of all age groups. This snack recipe is a hot and spicy combination of baby potatoes, cooked to perfection with lots of garlic and red chili and is sure to wreak major havoc on your taste buds with every bite.

400 gm peeled small potatoes with skins
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
75 gm gram flour (besan)
2 tablespoon red chilli powder
2 tablespoon coriander powder
1 pinch kasoori methi powder
2 tablespoon virgin olive oil
5 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon powdered turmeric
1 tablespoon salt
150 gm yoghurt (curd)

For Garnishing
20 gm coriander leaves

Step 1
Peel baby potatoes and gently prick with a fork. Now, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a pan over medium flame and add peeled potatoes to it. Stir fry until crisp and golden brown. Once done, remove and place on absorbent paper to soak up the excess oil.

Step 2
In another pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and add cumin seeds to it. Once the seeds start to crackle, add chopped garlic to it and saute it. Do not brown garlic pods, just let it sweat. Now, reduce the heat and add gram flour to this. Keep stirring for 2 minutes or until you can smell the aroma of the gram flour. Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and coriander powder to this and mix it well.

Step 3
Now, add the yogurt to this spice mix and keep stirring until it comes to boil. Once it does, add the stir-fried potatoes and sprinkle kasoori methi powder over these. Cook until potatoes absorb yogurt and dish becomes fragrant. Once done, transfer the dish in a serving plate and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. Serve it hot to enjoy!
