Potatoes make for the perfect snacks perhaps. The many potato preparations are relished all over the world, with the ubiquitous nature of this tuber vegetable and the very simple methods in how it can be incorporated in different dishes. One of the simplest and most delicious potato dishes is hash browns. A perfect Breakfast addition, this recipe can be prepared quickly and be served as a side dish for any other meal as well. Hash browns are cooked in a variety of ways. Potatoes are generally pan-friend after they are diced, julieneed, shredded, or riced. Popular in the American cuisine, hash browns are now commonplace in the buffets and breakfast menus across the country.

For The Main Dish:
4 tablespoon ghee
To prepare these delicious hash browns, scrub clean the potatoes with water. Put a heavy bottomed vessel on medium flame. Add potatoes with water and salt in it for boiling.
Bring it to a boil, lower the flame, and let the potatoes cook for around 10 minutes.
Switch off the flame, drain the water, and rinse potatoes with cold water, so that you can remove their skin without burning yourself.
Now, take a large bowl and grate the potatoes in it. Squeeze out water if it is still there and pat dry the grated potatoes.
Put a pan on medium flame and heat some ghee in it.
Add a small quantity of potatoes (or in batches) in the pan.
Season it with salt, black pepper, and red chilli powder, as per your taste and requirement. Then, push down the potatoes using a spatula or spoon and shape them into a patty.
Let the potatoes cook till they start getting brown. It may take about a minute. When one side is cooked, then flip them over and let the other side for the same amount of time.
Repeat the process till all the hash browns are made. Finally, transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot with a dip or sauce.
