Frangipane is an exotic French recipe which can be relished on special occasions like parties, anniversaries and festivals. The festive season has arrived and there is nothing better than being comfortable indoors with some delicious baking at the comfort of our homes! This dessert recipe can be prepared easily using all-purpose flour, almonds, caster sugar, egg, butter, vanilla essence, apple and apricot jam.
50 gm all purpose flour
100 gm caster sugar
100 gm butter
100 gm almonds
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
4 tablespoon apricot jam
Grease 6 shallow tart tins with butter and line them with some baking paper, making sure that the baking paper comes up along the sides. Press the paper downwards gently. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
In a bowl, add ground almonds, caster sugar, eggs, butter and vanilla essence and beat the mixture for about 2 minutes. Pour the beaten mixture over the prepared tins and make the tops smooth with the back of a metal spoon.
Then thinly slice the peeled apples and arrange them on the tins fanning the slices out. Now, bake the tins for about 20-25 minutes till the apples turn light gold.
Let the frangipane for about 5 minutes, then remove them from the tins and lightly brush them with some warm apricot jam. Serve either hot or cold by topping over some fresh whipping cream and enjoy!
