Cheera Thoran


Cheera Thoran is an easy-to-make South Indian side dish recipe which requires just a few simple ingredients to get prepared. You just need spinach, coconut, garlic, onion, curry leaves, some ground and whole spices to make this delicious recipe. Apart from its great taste, this dish is also very healthy as it contains spinach, which is a very good source of vitamins, minerals, folic acid, calcium and iron.

400 gm spinach
1/2 cup grated coconut
1 tablespoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 tablespoon coconut oil
8 curry leaves
1 medium onion
6 cloves garlic
1/2 teaspoon cumin
2 green chilli
1 teaspoon mustard seeds

Step 1
Wash the spinach under cold running water and put on a cloth to soak excess water. Chop it nicely on the chopping board and keep it aside. In a grinder, put grated coconut, cumin seeds, garlic, turmeric and red chilli powder. Grind well to make a paste.

Step 2
Heat oil in a pan over medium flame and add mustard seeds along with curry leaves and green chillies. Put the onions and saute the mixture for a minute. Now, add the spinach and coconut paste. Cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 2 minutes.

Step 3
Add a little water with salt and coconut oil and cook it well for few minutes. Take out in a bowl and serve hot with chapati!
