Royal Enfield’s history in India teems with interesting facts. The simple engineering of the machines has compelled thousands of enthusiasts to play around with the bikes and create something royally new. Royal Enfield tuning specialist Carberry Motorcycle, now based in India, is one such company aiming to make a litre-class motorcycle but remaining true to the Royal Enfield lineage.
While Carberry Motorcycle has so far revealed only the new powerplant, the exhaust note is enough to get fans on cloud 9. Displacing 1,000 cc, this air-cooled, OHV, pushrod four valve motor has a bore and stroke of 84 mm and 90 mm respectively. The 55 degree V-twin mill is capable of producing 56.32 bhp of maximum power at 4,800 rpm and 108 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm.
Called ‘Double Barrel 1000’, the engine is now a carburetted unit but a fuel injected version is also in the works. Even the carburetted version meets the stricter BSIV emission norms.
Royal Enfield officially is working a twin-cylinder mill which is expected to have an engine displacement of around 750 cc. The new powerplant by the company is expected to be housed inside a cafe racer as revealed by spy shots so far.
