Banana Phirni Tartlets with fresh Strawberries is a mouth-watering dessert recipe, which you can prepare at home with some easily available ingredients. This delectable Fusion recipe is baked using basmati rice, milk, all purpose flour, caster sugar, egg yolk, saffron and the puree of fresh bananas. Think about exotic desserts, and tarts would be the first thing that will come to your mind. Tarts are pretty popular but this recipe is a fusion of traditional phirni served as a tart.

Ingredients:
1 cup soaked basmati rice
1/4 tablespoon powdered green cardamom
2 tablespoon sugar
250 gm all purpose flour
1/3 cup caster sugar
1 tablespoon chilled water
3 cup milk
3/4 strand saffron
1 banana
125 gm chopped butter
1 gm egg yolk

For Garnishing:
100 gm strawberry

Procedure:
Step 1
To make this delicious dessert recipe, add the soaked rice in a blender jar along with 1/2 cup of milk and blend them to make a little grainy paste. After the paste is ready, put a deep-bottomed pan on medium flame and add 2 cups of milk along with the rice paste. Bring it to a boil and then add cardamom powder, saffron and sugar. Cook the phirni until thick. Make sure that you stir continuously so as to prevent it sticking to the bottom. The phirni is ready by now, switch off the burner. Keep this phirni aside until required.

Step 2
Meanwhile, for preparing the tarts, combine together all purpose flour, butter and sugar in a food processor. Process the mixture until it turns out to be as fine as breadcrumbs. Next, add egg yolk in this mixture and chilled water. Process the mixture until the dough is prepared. Put this dough on a lightly floured surface and knead until it becomes smooth. Wrap this dough in a baking paper and give it the shape of a disc. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.

Step 3
After 30 minutes, roll and place the hardened dough into the tart shells. Line pastry case with baking paper and fill with uncooked rice. Bake them at 180 degree Celsius for about 10 minutes. Remove the rice and paper, and bake further for 5 to 10 minutes until the pastry turns golden.

Step 4
Then, puree the banana by blending it in another jar along with a little water and let it thicken. Add the banana puree in tarts and let it set. Garnish with fresh cut strawberries and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
