Piaggio India started production of the Aprilia SR 150 at its Baramati plant in Maharashtra last week. Now, the company has confirmed that it will commence sales of the Aprilia SR 150 from today.
The Aprilia SR 150 is the Italian marque’s first locally-made product in India. The first ‘crossover’ Aprilia bike is priced at INR 65,000 (ex-showroom Pune) and will be sold at Vespa and Aprilia dealerships as well as online on Paytm. The SR 150 is available in matte black and white colours and available to book now.
The Aprilia SR 150 gets its power from the Vespa 150’s 154.4 cc air-cooled single-cylinder carbureted engine that develops 11.55 PS (11.39 hp) at 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is also manufactured in India, and is mated to a continuously variable transmission. Key features of the Aprilia SR 150 are twin headlamps, 14-inch alloy wheels, tubeless sport street tyres, 220 mm front disc brake and twin pod analogue instrument panel.
According to reports, the company plans to launch more models under the SR range and the first one of them will arrive in Q1 2017.
